Can’t create file: filename.ext – Microsoft Office Outlook – when downloading attachments type: pdf, wav, bmp, html, etc

Outlook saves every single attachment you download – in a temp folder. If the same file name exists, it simply appends a number (up to 100)
After the number is over 100 you get the error. So you need to find the location of the temp folder. To find this temp location, open the registry:

See the variable on the right named “OutlookSecureTempFolder”.

That is your Outlook temp folder location for the downloaded attachments. Now you can go to that folder and empty it. It should clear the error. So why Microsoft keeps changing the location of this folder?
According to the source “Microsoft decided that they would create a random folder name to keep viruses and malware from finding this folder and exploiting it to their advantage”
