Sonic Activation Module


This is an issue with a corrupt .dll file
You will need to replace the .dll file “_ispmres.dll” into this proper location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService
or delete the contents of this folder

Here are the solutions:

Solution 1:

“Activate.MSI” message when launching MyDVD or Digital Media Studio

Issue

Launching MyDVD 6.x or Digital Media Studio applications generates this message window:

Sonic Activation Module
The feature you are trying to use is on a
network resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a
folder containing the installation package
‘Activate.MSI’ in the box below.

Cause

This is caused by removing certain non-Sonic/Roxio applications that share file resources with Sonic/Roxio software.

Resolution

;Note: This issue was resolved in Creator 8 and higher. Visit the Roxio Upgrade Center for the latest version of Creator or call our Inside Sales Team at 1-877-793-7480 (Monday – Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., EST – excluding Roxio holidays).

You will need to replace the .dll file “_ispmres.dll” into this proper location:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService

This utility will automatically replace the file for you: http://tools.roxio.com/support/dell/isum_hotfix.exe

Be sure all Sonic and Roxio applications are shut down before launching this utility. This hotfix requires a reboot. No reinstallation of the software is necessary.

If the hotfix doesn’t work, you can always perform a clean install of the application as described in the article Clean install instructions for MyDVD 5 and higher and DigitalMedia Studio.

Solution 2

Download the update manager from here:

http://consumer.installshield.com/

Install the software and reboot the machine.
It will fix the sonic activation module message
Note: IF the sonic activation message windows is open click on the X button to close the popup box and click on the retry button to retry the install of the update manager
